 ADMISSION OF APPLICANTS TO TERTIARY & NON-TERTIARY

Cape Coast Polytechnic is inviting applications from qualified candidates for admission into the following programmes of study:

A.        BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMMES)

1.   B. Tech (Building Technology)

2.  B. Tech (Mechanical Engineering)       

3.   B .Tech in Accounting with Computing

Holders of a good HND certificate (Second Class Upper Division or better) in Building Technology/ Mechanical Engineering and must have at least, one-year work experience in the relevant field.

Applicants with Second Class Lower Division may also apply but must pass a selection interview.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR (3)

a)      Holders of HND Accountancy Certificate with a minimum of (2) years work experience. OR

b)      ACCA and ICA Holders with passes in seven (7) or more subjects. OR

c)      Holders of professional Diploma in Computerized Accounting with credit in Mathematics and English or equivalent Diploma from a recognized University.

  • B. Tech (Building Technology)                                              –           Eighteen (18) months
  • B. Tech (Mechanical Engineering)                                          –           Twenty-four (24) months
  • Bachelor of Technology in Accounting with Computing      –           One and a half year top-up

 SSSCE APPLICANTS

 Six Passes (A-D) in all subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Social Studies/Science; and three (3) electives which must be relevant to the area of specialization

WASSCE APPLICANTS

Six Passes (A1-D7) in all subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Social Studies/Science; and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) elective subjects which must be relevant to the area of specialization.

 G.C.E. ‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS

Five (5) G.C.E ‘O’ Level Credits (including English Language and Mathematics) or its equivalent plus two (2) ‘A’ Level passes excluding General Paper   

TECHNICAL/VOCATIONAL/BUSINESS/COMMERCIAL CERTIFICATE APPLICANTS

Advanced Business Certificate, Diploma in Business Studies (DBS), Diploma in Computerized Accounting (DCA), Diploma in Banking Technology & Accounting (DBTA), Diploma in Business Administration (DBA) RSA II/III, MET I/II, MVT I/ II, EET I/ II, GCC/CTC I/II or CTC I & II, OTD Certificate, Advanced B/C Craft Certificate, Institutional Management or City & Guilds Part I & II (812/1, 812/2) or Stenographer Certificate plus four SSSCE/WASSCE credit passes including English Language and Mathematics.

 TEACHER APPLICANTS [‘A’ FOUR-YEAR OR POST-SEC. TEACHERS’ CERTIFICATE]

ENGINEERING PROGRAMMES (APPLICANTS SHOULD HAVE SCIENCE BACKGROUND)

 Five [5] GCE‘O’ level credits including English and Mathematics and two [2] Science subjects or six [6]

SSSCE/WASSCE credit passes including English Language and Mathematics and three [3] elective science subjects.

 *   BUSINESS PROGRAMMES

Five [5] GCE ‘O’ level credit passes including English language and Mathematics or six [6] SSSCE/WASSCE credit passes   including English language and Mathematics.

  * HOTEL, CATERING AND INSTITUTIONAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME 

    (APPLICANTS SHOULD HAVE HOME ECONOMICS OR   CATERING BACKGROUND)

 Five [5] GCE ‘O’ level credits including English language, Science and Mathematics or six [6] SSSCE/WASSCE credit passes   including English and Mathematics.

(i)        Must be 25 years old and should provide a Birth Certificate.

(ii)               Must have a minimum of 3 years’ work experience and

(iii)             Pass a written Examination and an interview.

Mature Candidates Entrance Examination will take place onSeptember 11, 2015at the Cape Coast Polytechnic. The Examination will begin at 9:00 a. m.

POST-GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN COMPUTERIZED ACCOUNTING

Courses include: Computerized Accounting, Spreadsheet Accounting, Database management systems and Accounting Information systems. Software packages taught include Sage 50, Sage 300 ERP, Sage Pastel and Tally Accounting. Each student will get free software on his/her laptop for practical training and internationally recognized Certificate

Target groups: Accounting graduates, HND Holders, ICA and ACCA students, Accounts Officers.

Duration: I Semester (3 months)

Lecture time: Weekends only

DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS STUDIES (DBS) APPLICANTS INTO HND PROGRAMMES

Applicants who hold DBS with Distinction or Credit from GES accredited institutions are eligible for admission to level 200 to pursue Business related programmes at the HND level. DBS applicants who hold a Pass would enroll at level 100.

CERTIFICATE II APPLICANTS

Certificate II Applicantswith Passes in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects (English, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies) plus three (3) passes in relevant elective subjects are eligible for HND programmes.

Entry Requirement:

Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credit  including English & Mathematics or Ghana Commercial Examination           Stage II (formerly RSA II) passes in four (4) relevant subjects including English Language and MathematicsORfour (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passescomprising two core subjects (English  and  Mathematics) AND two relevant elective subjects.

2. Stenography

Entry Requirement:

Three (3) GCE ‘O” level with credit in English LanguageORthree (3) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English LanguageORTypist CertificateORGhana Commercial Examination Stage II (formerly RSA II) with passes in three (3) subjects including English Language.

3.Stenographer Secretary                –           One year programme

Entry Requirement:

Applicants should be holders of Stenographer Certificate, DBS, GBCE

4. Private Secretary

Entry Requirement:

Applicant should be holders ofStenographer Secretary Certificate –            One year programme

 5.  Diploma in Business Administration (DBA)

      Diploma in Banking Technology & Accounting (DBTA)

       Diploma in Computerized Accounting (DCA)

Entry Requirement:

Candidates must have 5 passes in SSSCE/WASSCE/GBCE including English Language and Core   Mathematics.

D.       ACCESS COURSE INTO HND PROGRAMMES FOR TECHNICAL &

           VOCATIONAL SCHOOL / SSSCE/WASSCE SCIENCE GRADUATES

The Access Course for technical and vocational school graduates has been designed to offer students the opportunity to pursue a one-year Access Course in English Language, Mathematics and Science.  The final Examination will be conducted by the National Board for Professional and Technician Examinations (NABPTEX) after which successful candidates will be qualified to enroll in HND programmes in any of the polytechnics in Ghana.

The following HND programmes are available in Cape Coast Polytechnic for successful candidates:

1.       HND Mechanical Engineering (Automobile, Plant and Production Options)

2.       HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering

3.       HND Building Technology

4.       HND Civil Engineering

5.       HND Hotel, Catering & Institutional Management

6.       HND Fashion, Design & Textile Studies

Applicants should have a minimum qualification of Intermediate Certificate or its equivalent in the relevant area of study. In the case ofSSSCE/WASSCE Science applicants for Access course,theymusthave passes in three (3) subjects comprising at least one (1) core subject plus at least one (1) science elective subject and any other science related subject.

NB:     Only technical, vocational school and SSSCE/WASSCE Science graduates are qualified to apply for the Access Course.
