On Monday Egypt has restricted access to their most famous temples along the Nile in Luxor amid concerns that the city has become a major international center of transmission of coronavirus.

According to local officials and guests, the tourists were restricted to their hotels and cruise ships moored on the Nile, since the government doctors arrived for testing.

About 136 crew members and guests from one of the Nile cruisers A Sara Saturday are quarantined in Luxor, in southern Egypt. Another 45 people on Board the boat, who tested positive for the virus, including American and European tourists, were sent military aircraft in isolation at a hospital in Northern Egypt.

In the night of Sunday, the government announced that the total number of cases of coronavirus across Egypt has reached 55 with one fatal outcome: a 60-year-old German tourist who died in hospital in the red sea resort in Hurghada. The German was hospitalized on Friday after a trip from Luxor.
