We offer a range of undergraduate courses leading to the awards of Bachelor of Science in General Nursing, Emergency Nursing and Midwifery.

Minimum entry requirements

Credits in THREE SSSCE/WASSCE Core subjects: English Language,Mathematicsand Integrated Science.
Credits in THREE SSSCE/WASSCE Elective subjects: Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.
Passes in THREE GCE Advanced Level subjects: Chemistry, Physics and any one of the following: Biology, Agricultural Science or Mathematics.
Mature candidates must have credits in FIVE GCE Ordinary Level subjects in any of the following: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science including English, Mathematics, and must have attained the age of 25 years at the time of submitting the application. Matured candidates may be required to pass an interview.
OR
Mature candidates must have passes in FIVE SSSCE subjects in any of the following: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Elective Mathematics including English and Mathematics and have must have attained the age of 25 years at the time of submitting the application. Matured candidates may be required to pass an interview.

Collaborations

The department has links with the University ofGhana,Legon, University of Massachusetts, USA, Minnesota State University, School of Nursing, USA and College of Nursing University of Michigan, USA, CHRD-DBL, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

As a result of the fruitful relation with the University of Massachusetts, an ExchangeProgrammehas been instituted and running for two (2) years now. Under this programme, Four (4) students travel to Massachusetts for a period of eleven (11) weeks each year. The main objective is to expose and enhance their practical skills.

 

Service to the community

The department provides technical support to the Ministry ofHealthandGhanaHealthService. The senior members serve on some college boards of the University. Senior members serve as foreign mentors in research for students from School of Nursing, University of New Hampshire, USA. A senior member serves as external examiner for the Narh-Bita School of
Nursing, Tema.
