Salads are very popular in Mexican cuisine which is one of the reasons why Mexican cuisine is very healthy.

Due to the great diversity of Mexican food there are numerous kinds of salads that can be found in Mexican restaurants across Mexico, and in other countries that have authentic and traditional Mexican restaurants.

Some of those salads are: Mexican Crab Salad, Tomato-Avocado-Egg Salad, Hot Carnitas Salad, Carne Asada Salad, Frilled Fajitas Salads, Black Bean and Corn Salad, Taco Salad, Carnitas, Tomato-Corn Salad, Avocado-Corn Salad, Mexican Sea-Salad, etc.

Mexican Crab Salad Recipe

Note Before gathering the ingredients

If you can, you should buy fresh crab and not frozen. Also it would be great if the tomatoes and avocadoes are from your garden as well as the salsa ingredients.

This is because the secret of the great taste of the Mexicans salads, and its high level of vitamins and minerals, is that Mexicans use fresh ingredients. In other words they dont use frozen, caned or genetically modified foods when preparing traditional and authentic Mexican food.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (1/2 kg) of cooked crab
  • 2 large tomatoes
  • 7 ounces (200gr) of black olives
  • 7 ounces (200gr) of cheddar cheese
  • 2 avocados
  • 2 cups of tortilla chips
  • 2 cups of salsa
  • 1 garlic glove
  • 2 table spoon of olive oil
  • 2 table spoon of lime juice

    Preparation:

    First cook the crab and peel the tomatoes, avocados and garlic. Then dice the crab, tomatoes and the avocados. Shred the cheddar cheese and garlic. Prepare fresh basic Mexican salsa and combine all ingredients except the crab and chips.

    Place the mixture into the refrigerator for cooling. An hour later take it out, and add crab and tortilla chips on the top, just before serving it.
