Need help with sleep deprivation for a friend with Epilepsy

Question

My friend has severe sleep deprivation. He is 53, epileptic fromthe result of an auto accident. He has a CPAP machine, but it doesn’t help.Quite frankly I have observed him sleeping and he sleeps very quietly and peacefully with no problem breathing.

When he can’t sleep he developes restless leg syndrome(RLS) and more severe seizures. He has a vagal nerve stimulator and takes anti seizure meds (dilantin), meds for depression, but he is still depressed, still has seizures and still can’t sleep.

He recently had to quit work because his seizures are worse because of lack of sleep. He has no quality of life!

Are there any meds or homeopathic remedies that can help for sleep that will work with his meds?I would like him to try extended release melatonin, but I am reading that this may not agree with some of his medications.

Any and all help would be appreciated.I am looking for experts (doctors) that might be able to re-evaluate his condition.Or any Clinical Trials.VNS doesn’t seem to be working, he still struggles with depression, and continues to only get about 2 hrs sleep a night and can’t be reaching REM.He has small seizures several times a month with disorientation. He has major seizures with trips to emergency when he can’t sleep for days. This man has no quality of life. There must be help from somewhere or someone!
