Hunting License

Coyotes are not protected in Utah. They may be hunted without a license.

Season Dates and Bag Limits

Coyotes don’t have a season in Utah, they may be hunted year round. Also, there are no limits on how many coyotes you can take.

Loaded Firearms

It is unlawful to carry a loaded firearm (round in the chamber) in or on any vehicle in Utah.  However, you may carry a firearm in a vehicle with cartridges or shells in the magazine.

Night Hunting

Harvesting coyotes is restricted to 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. Some counties allow spotlighting, see Utah Code § 23-13-17 and county laws and ordinances for more information.

Transporting

You do not need a license in order to transport coyotes or export coyotes from Utah.

Selling

A license is not required to sell or possess coyotes in Utah.
