For the first few months of your vaping life, the vapor emitted from your puny e cig is probably hardly worth mentioning. Few e cigs manage to create thick vapor when you are only using 280-mAh batteries. Even eGos create paltry vapor if you have seen the kinds of clouds produced by sub ohm vaping experts. What is sub ohm vaping? For that matter, what are ohms?
Measuring Ohms
Ohms are a measure of resistance. Resistance affects the temperature of vapor. When volts or watts are high, this raises the temperature. Change the resistance up or down and this also alters temperature. You can do this by building coils or buying pre-built sub ohm atomizers.
In particular, there are risks of overheating and short-circuiting. Buy a gadget that protects against either of these dangers by shutting down automatically when it detects a shorted circuit or high temperatures.
Sub Ohm Vaping
Your object is to produce excellent, dense clouds of vapor but not lose quality of flavor. The best way to do this has been by vaping with a dripping atomizer, but this can be messy and a hassle. When you use an RDA, you have to drip a bit of juice in at a time. With a tank, you add 2 or more milliliters of juice and vape for an hour or more before refilling. Using a tank but enjoying low resistance and high watts is ideal.
And you can do that with the right tank, perhaps by wrapping the coils yourself. You will also need a device that allows you to adjust volts and watts. Using just volts is fine, but with wattage adjustment a machine picks the correct voltage for your resistance. It’s simpler and safer. Safety is of paramount consideration in these matters as too-low resistance can blow your entire mechanism and you now have a worthless device in your hands which cost you $200, perhaps a device that is on fire.
Meters
Many high-tech sub ohm vaping devices feature built in meters that measure volts, watts, and ohms. Experts suggest that these meters are inadequate for your purposes because at 0.2 ohms the risks of getting it slightly wrong are very high. You are advised to buy a meter which measures ohms, volts, and watts. An example would be the Haka Tester for $20 but there are many others.
Sub Ohm Vaping Devices
Right now, the hot ticket for vaping at as low as 0.2 ohms is a box mod with a smart chip. They offer watts up to nearly 200, but right now 150 watts has been tried and tested by thousands of people so it is the safest maximum. Companies like IPV, Sigelei, and VaporShark carry variable wattage boxes from 20 watts up to 150 watts in some cases, and they are not that expensive.
What you really want is a DNA chip by Evolv which is the finest chip of its kind. Companies like Cloupor and JoyeTech have released excellent tubular mods for this kind of thing and an Aspire CF battery will handle sub ohms too. Innokin makes a number of fine models while VaporFi’s VOX is an attractive high-watt, low-ohm device. You can pay anything from $40 and up, but it’s advisable to spend a little bit more money on this high powered device to enjoy the best safety.
