Your laundry room resource

Keep your laundry room clean, well organized, uncluttered and easy to use.

Here are a few useful tips for keeping all parts of your laundry efficient and spotless:

  • Run your washer without any laundry once a month  – with only water and a cup of white vinegar and you will sanitize the inside of the machine and clear away the soap scum.
  • Empty the lint trap on your dryer before starting every load, then wipe off leftover dust and fuzz with a damp cloth.
  • Using a damp cloth, wipe the interior of both your dryer and washing machine – making sure to rub off any lint residue around the opening.
  • Wash the outside of your washer and dryer with a soft cloth and soapy water.
  • Wash the sink in your laundry room with soapy water and cloth and don’t forget to wash and then polish the faucet.
  • Clean the surfaces, shelving, and bins on the counter-tops as well as the cabinet fronts by wiping them with a cloth and cleaner.
  • Vacuum, then wash the laundry room floor. Launder rugs regularly. Dust the area underneath the washer and dryer as lint can create a fire hazard if it piles up under your appliances. Long handled bristle brush is very useful for this task.

  • Vacuum the area behind your washer and dryer. To reach behind the units, move the machines using appliance floor protectors so you don’t damage your floors.

  • Vacuum, then wipe with damp cloth the dust, fuzz and lint around the air vents so they don’t get clogged and reduce airflow into your laundry room.
  • Spray laundry room window with glass cleaner and polish with a cloth. Clean the window sill and the frame with the damp cloth. Launder the curtains regularly.
  • Clean mineral deposits and spray-starch buildup on your iron by making a paste of baking soda and water. Apply the paste with a cloth, then wipe down the iron.
