Cleaning your refrigerator not only gets rid of old food, possible mold and bacterial growth, but helps keep your unit energy efficient and working at lower capacity.

Step by step instructions on weekly cleaning your refrigerator:

  • Unplug your refrigerator.
  • Gently glide a refrigerator condenser coil cleaning brush underneath the unit’s kick plate, located in the rectangular panel just above the floor, to remove dust and debris.

  • Empty all food, jars, condiments and other ingredients  from inside the refrigerator unit and toss anything past its prime or expiration date into a trash bag.
  • Recycle glass and plastic containers.
  • Remove drawers, place in the sink and scrub with sponge, warm water, and liquid dish soap. Leave them in dish-rack to air-dry.
  • With warm water, dishwasher detergent and a clean sponge, wash down interior walls, each shelf, all shelf seams and rubber door seals. Use an old toothbrush to dislodge grime and stubborn stains.
  • Dry the interior with a  clean dishcloth.
  • Plug the refrigerator back in and return the drawers inside.
  • As you are placing the food back in, wipe down all jars and bottles.
  • Add a fresh box of baking soda to contain odors.
  • Clean the exterior of the refrigerator.

For enameled steel use a multisurface solution and paper towels.
