The Beer Institute released a report in 2012 that reported on the beer consumption of average Americans. It estimated that each individual American over the legal drinking age of 21 downed an average of 28.3 cold ones per year. When looking at nationwide consumption, the Institute found that New Hampshire ranked No. 1 for the most beer consumed per capita. Each of New Hampshire’s almost 980,000 legal drinking age citizens consumed 43 gallons each. Connecticut was at the bottom of the list, with its citizens slugging back only 21.8 gallons each.
