In Pakistan, about 246 people tested positive for coronavirus. Many experts in public health say they are concerned that the true numbers are much higher; the Country is in the middle of one of the most densely populated regions of the world, South Asia, home to about 1.8 billion people with a large length of the border.
When the outbreak struck neighboring Iran, thousands of Pakistanis tried to come home. Some 4,600 people have been quarantined in Taftan, a town on the border of Pakistan. They spent 14 days in tents, with a small amount of running water and barely functioning toilets.
Many of those who have been released from quarantine and went home and tested positive. In Sindh the number of infected people has increased from 35 up to 150 on Sunday after dozens of people that have passed the quarantine in Taftan, were confirmed as infected.
Many in Pakistan say it is difficult for them to get tested. To date, the country has been tested about eight people per million, compared to approximately 1,000 in a million in Italy.
On Tuesday in a televised address, Prime Minister Imran Khan warned that the hospital too weak to make the flow of people wishing to be tested and asked to undergo an examination of only the patients.
He called for social distancing, but said the economy is too weak to cope with a full stop.
