More than 500,000 Danes can be infected with the novel coronavirus in the worst case scenario. In the fourth, 5 March, the Danish health authorities warned that the number of confirmed cases in the country increased to four.
The national Board of health and the Management of patient safety Denmark made remarks at a joint press conference Monday after the weekend it was confirmed two more cases, bringing the total number of cases in Denmark to four.
Weed Brostrom, Director of the National Board of health, said that Denmark should be prepared for a possible sharp increase in the number of cases COVID-19.
“We can easily see that 10 to 15 percent (or 580 000-870 000) of the Danish population can be infected with the coronavirus,” said the Director.
Anette Lykke Petri, head of unit, Danish management of patient safety, said the Agency is making every effort to avoid this possibility and to contain the epidemic.
“To 122 healthy Danes are currently on home quarantine. 108 of those who are quarantined are associated with four Danes infected with the coronavirus. And the remaining 14 are quarantined after contact with infected people abroad,” said Petri.
Meanwhile, Brett of Soborg, consultant to the National Board of health, refuted the idea that the new coronavirus is spreading in communities across the country, saying that “nothing indicates that in Denmark there are infected humans that have no connection with the risk areas outside Denmark. “
