Protests against the district hospitals designated by the government of Hong Kong for the treatment of suspected cases of coronavirus, emerged in several parts of the city on Saturday.
Many of the demonstrators, who numbered several hundred, were dressed in black — the signature color of anti-government protests in the city.
The government stated that the clinic will treat people with mild symptoms of the virus to reduce the pressure on hospitals, but critics say residents were not consulted.
In the Northern town of tin Shui Wai protesters tried to set fire to the turnstile at the train station, and, according to local media, the Riot police used pepper spray on other demonstrators.
In addition, the administration of the city hospital said was the destroyed clinic in the district of tai Po. A police spokesman said that on Saturday morning at the door of the clinic was discovered shards of glass, and there was found a bottle with unknown liquid, but he didn’t say if any damage.
