Rick cotton, Executive Director of the port authority of new York and new Jersey, which operates the largest airports in the region, bridges, tunnels and bus terminals, has tested positive for coronavirus, said Monday Governor Andrew M. Cuomo of new York.
Cotton is one of the most famous public officials in the U.S. who contracted the virus. On Monday morning, the Governor said that the state was confirmed 142 cases, including Rick cotton. New Jersey has announced five new infections, bringing the base of the infected state has reached 11.
Andrew Cuomo suggested that Rick cotton could be contaminated in the process of performing their duties on behalf of the authority in JFK international airport, noting that he “was one of the major airports for people arriving on these international flights”.
Rick cotton, who is now 70, said at his apartment in new York, there are no obvious symptoms of the virus, but he refused to comment further.
According to the Governor, senior officials of the port authority, who worked with Mr. Cotton also tested for COVID-19.
On Sunday, mayor bill de Blasio urged new Yorkers to avoid crowded subway cars and use alternative modes of transport, e.g. Cycling.
