The Palestinians moved to the quarantine, closing schools and universities for a month and banning tourists to visit the Holy places after one group of pilgrims was diagnosed COVID-19 in Bethlehem.
In an unprecedented step, the Palestinian authority (PA) closed the Church of the Nativity, which Christians believe is the historical birthplace of Jesus, and denied entry to pilgrims traveling to the Holy places during lent during the 40 days preceding Easter.
Social events, sporting events and festivals were cancelled, and Palestinians are forbidden to travel between West Bank towns.
“At the moment, it is an effective way to fight the virus,” — said the Director of the Department of preventive health care the Palestinian Ministry of health Dr. Ali Abed Rabbo.
Field isolation and fumigation
Israel controls all points of entry and exit to the West Bank, Palestinian and Israeli officials confirmed that the two sides cooperate in the field of policy coronavirus in joint efforts to curb the spread of the virus.
