President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued five orders on how the country intends to deal with the coronavirus.
Among the initiatives included in advanced readiness plan for Kenya — construction of a facility in the Mbagathi hospital in Nairobi.
Mr. Kenyatta wants to insulating the center was completed within seven days.
He has also ordered identification and training centres and medical institutions across the country, which should be completed by 15 March 2020.
“Kenya is a major international centre, with 70 per cent of international passengers in transit, and there is a serious threat from the proliferation of COVID-19 to Kenya from countries that have new and ongoing outbreaks pneumatic diseases”, — said the head of state.
Kenyatta added that “there is a clear public interest in further improving the willingness and ability of Kenya to prevent, respond to, and contain this emerging global threat.”
A dedicated Committee will be responsible for the coordination of Kenya, increased surveillance at ports of entry in Kenya, the coordination of the supply of test kits and critical medical devices, including masks and protective gear.
They will also coordinate the preparation of national, County and private prisons and medical institutions, as well as to prosecute the struggle against the outbreak of local and international human resources.
