Actors Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were discharged from an Australian hospital will remain in isolation after treatment Covid-19, disease caused by a coronavirus, said their son in a video message on Monday.
“They are still in quarantine, but I feel a lot better, so that’s a relief,” said their son Chet Hanks in a video posted to Instagram.
63-year-old Mr. Hanks and Ms. Wilson said that last Wednesday they had a positive result for coronavirus. Mr. Hanks was in Australia filming a movie about the life of Elvis Presley.
Mr. Hanks, famous for being in films such as “Saving private Ryan” and “Forrest Gump” is the most famous celebrity who contracted the virus.
“We felt a bit tired, as if we had cold and some pain in the body,” said Mr. Hanks last week. “We will test, observe and isolate themselves as much as necessary to public health and safety.”
Since then, many public figures have said they tested positive for the virus, including actor Idris Elba and Masoumeh Ebtekar, Iranian Vice-President.
The representative of the couple said that they will remain in quarantine in a rented house in North-Eastern Queensland.
In Australia there has been a rapid increase in the incidence of coronavirus. As of Tuesday 375 people tested positive, including Peter Dutton, the Minister of internal Affairs of the country.
