BioWare developer Corey Gaspur, designer on the Mass Effect trilogy and most recently Anthem, has passed away.
BioWare released an official statement on its blog, remembering Corey Gaspur as both a developer and, more importantly, a friend.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague Corey Gaspur.
He was a member of our team for over nine years, and worked as a designer on many of our titles, including Sonic Chronicles, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2and 3, and most recently Anthem.
Corey was a talented designer and an even better person. We offer our condolences to Corey’s family and everyone that knew him.
We will miss you.
Gaspur signed on as a designer at BioWare’s Edmonton location in March 2007. His first accredited project was Nintendo DS role-playing game Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, a collaboration between BioWare and Sega.
From there, he went on to work on the Mass Effect series, playing an integral part in designing the combat. Gaspur then moved up to lead designer. His first project under that title was Anthem, which is slated for release in 2018.
I’m sure being a developer was only a part of who Gaspur was, and I wish the best to all of those affected by his passing.
