No. Students admitted to a Kwame Nkrumah University of Science andTechnology(KNUST) degree program can takedistance learningcourses or on-campus courses, whichever best fit their lifestyle. You will be awarded the same degree as all other graduate students admitted to the Graduate Certificate, M.Sc programs.

To gain admission to pursue an undergraduate or top-up programme in KNUST-IDL, you will need
¨ At least 5 (five) credits in GCE “O” Level, including English Language andMathematics
¨ At least 6 (six) credits in SSSCE/WASSCE subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus three (electives) with an aggregate not exceeding 24.
Applicants with passes (i.e. D7 and E8) in English, Mathematics and Integrated Science, who completed theirHND on or before 2010can apply to go through a qualifying Pre-bridging (Access) Course.

Distance Learning students have access to Facilitators and Programme Coordinators. Students also have access to the IDL Virtual Class (V-Class) through which they take part in discussions, receive support from the facilitators on individual modules and access feedback from tutors on assignments.

YES.At the beginning of each academic year, orientation is organized for fresh students. Students get to know more about the Institute as well as KNUST. Students are also introduced to their course of study, as they get to interact with some of their Lecturers and Facilitators. Orientations are held at Kumasi andAccraat the beginning of the academic year. In some cases, orientations take place at other designated centres. More information will be given before the scheduled date for orientation.
IDL KNUST offers a variety of programmes ranging from Undergraduate, Top-Up, Diploma and Post Graduate programmes.

Registration is done at the beginning of each semester. To register,
¨ Students are required to pay theirfees before you can register.
¨ First year and continuing students are permitted to pay at least 60% and 50% respectively of their fees for theentire academic yearto enable them register for theFirst Semester.
¨ The remaining amount, that is, balance of the fees,MUSTbe paid before registration can be done for the second semester.
¨ Payment of fees can be done at any of the followingbanks: ECOBANK, HFC BANK, MERCHANT BANK, GCB, FIDELITY BANK and UBA.
¨ After payment, students are to submit theirPay-In–Slips to their Centrefor official KNUST receipt.
¨ First year students/Freshmen & womenwill be given their usernames and passwordsby the University Information Technology Services (UITS) to enable them register their courses for the semester online.
¨ NOTE that, after payment of therequired amount of fees, students will receive anemail or an SMSwhich will give the details of username, password and website for registration purposes.
¨ Visit your Centre for assistance if you encounter any difficulty.
