Construction Of The KNUST Teaching Hospital To Begin In September

The Office of the Director of Works has handed over the plan for theKNUSTTeaching Hospital to CONSAR Limited. The KNUST Teaching Hospital is funded by the GETFUND and KNUST in collaboration with the College ofHealthScience. The KNUST Development Office is the Consultant to the project.

The Director of Works, Rev. Ben Oppong hinted that the project is in three phases and it is estimated to cost between thirteen (13) to fourteen (14) millionGhanaCedis. The first Phase of the project would begin in September with the construction of a Hundred (100) bed-hospital.

The KNUST Teaching Hospital, when completed, would be a Seven Hundred and Fifty(750) bed-hospital with all the features and facilities of a modern teaching hospital.

Rev. Oppong further disclosed that the KNUST Development Office would ensure that the contractors were in compliance with thetermsof the contract since it is a priority project.

The Chief Quantity Surveyor of CONSAR Limited, Peter Boateng, was confident that the project would begin next month following clearance of the project site at Boadi.  He stated that CONSAR has the capacity to execute the project smoothly.

Mr. Boateng was hopeful that the funding partners would provide the necessary funds to ensure the timely completion of the project. He noted that CONSAR had been involved in the construction of several projects on campus.  Notably among such projects were the GUSS Hostels, College ofHealthScience Building Complex, Paa Joe Stadium renovations, the KCCR amongothers.
