About GIMPA Law School
Thefaculty of lawatGIMPAwas established in 2010 and has quickly grown from its small size of about seventy students and five full time faculty to boasting of well over four hundred students and twenty-six full time faculty in addition to fourteen adjuncts.
The school boasts of good infrastructure and arguably has the most enduring and visible presence on the serene GreenhillGIMPA campus. It’s excellent performances in the law admissions entrance examinations into the professional program at theGhanaSchool of Law has added to its emergent sterling image and the school continues to put in place policies and measures that will ensure even better output in the future.
We prepare our students to be the best attorneys and advocates by combining mainstream theoretical training with clinical programs. In the short five years of its existence, GIMPA Law has been a place of choice and continues to provide the best environment for the study of the law and its future practice.
Faculty of Law / LL.B Day Program
This is Day School program that is especially designed for secondary school leavers with SSSCE and WASSCE.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) CandidatesThe general requirements for admission of WASSCE and SSSCE candidates to first degreeprogrammesare three (3) credit passes in three core subjects and three (3) credit passes in three elective subjects.
- SSSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language andMathematicsplus three (3) relevant elective subjects.
- WASSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.
2. General Certificate ofEducation(GCE) Advanced Level Candidates
Passes in three (3) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject for (for non-science) and an Arts subject (for Science students).
DURATION:
Theprogrammeis for a duration of four (4) academic years.
Faculty of Law / LL.B Regular Program
The programme is a rigorous one and prepares students for admission into the professional training at theGhanaSchool of Law. It is an evening programme.
Faculty of Law / LL.B Modular Program
The modular programmes is designed especially for students with work scheduling difficulties who are both prepared and able to take significant time off from work and come into the program to complete specific modules at a time.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Interested applicants must have been awarded a first degree in any relevant discipline and must have obtained a minimum of a lower division.
The minimum requirements for admission are:
- A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an approved/recognized university with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division); OR
- A professional chartered qualification such as ACCA, ICA, ICSA, CIPS and CIMA; and
An interview will be conducted on the basis of performance in the entrance exam. Only applicants who are shortlisted will be notified.
DURATION:
The programme is for a duration of three (3) academic years.
