In a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs, it said the Council has currently released the results of 128,707 private candidates.
Meanwhile the results of 668 candidates have been withheld. It is believed those whose results have been withheld indulged in examination malpractices.
“The results of 668 candidates alleged to have been involved in various examination malpractices have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into the cases of malpractices. The withheld results will be released as soon as the Council concludes its investigations.”
The Exam Council cancelled the entire results of at least 598 candidates who sat in the 2016 main WASSCE.
But in the statement the council was certain their database was well secured to prevent and forgery of results. The statement asked that people desist from that since“all forged results can be detected by the confirmation/verification system.”
It further urged institutions and organisations to verify results presented to them directly from WAEC or via its website www.waecgh.org where candidates may access their results.
There have been reports of leakages in examinations conducted by WAEC in recent times. But the council says they have measures in place to detect such issues and deal with the culprits.
