Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broniholds a PhD in Educational Administration and Management and a Masters in Pastoral Counselling from New York City’s Fordham University. Having won the JesuitScholarshipfor Missionaries to support his Masters studies, he also won a Graduate Assistantship and worked at the Office of the Chair, A.P.UE, at Fordham as doctoral student. Prior to that, he obtained a Diploma in Sacred Theology from the University ofGhana,Legonwhile pursuing higher studies in Sacred Theology and Philosophy from St. Peter’s Major Seminary, Cape Coast,Ghana. He was the SRC President in his deaconate year at the Major Seminary; his minor seminary training was at St Teresa’s Seminary, Amisano.
An ordained Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Cape Coast for over 26 years, Fr. Afful-Broni serves on many boards nationally and internationally including the World Vision International, Morgan International School, and CommunityHealthNursing Training School,Winneba. He is also President of the Priests’ Senate, Chairman of theEducationCommittee, and Member of the College of Consultors for the Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Coast. He has taught at St. Mary’s, Archbishop Porter’s Girls’, and Holy Child School, Cape Coast. A past University Chaplain of the University ofEducationWinneba, he has for nearly 15 years, been resident Chaplain of Holy Spirit Catholic Church on campus.
He is the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of theUniversity of Education, Winneba, having served as Dean of the Faculty of Educational Studies for five years, and during that period, chaired or served on a number of Committees and Boards in and outside the University; mentoring a large number of faculty in professional development and research projects including participation at international conferences. The Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Educational Leadership, Professor Afful-Broni has also, for over a decade, been Consultant to the Academic Quality Assurance Unit of theUniversity of Ghana, Legon. He leads a team of Facilitators who run capacity building workshops for academic staff of Universities across the nation. His team once ran a training for the West African College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has also worked for the NationalAccreditationBoard for several years now. He facilitates Workshops on Time Management, Staff Development and Leadership in universities locally and internationally.
A member of several professional bodies including Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Delta Kappa, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), USA for nearly fifteen years, Professor Afful-Broni led in the expansion of his faculty through the introduction of many academicprogrammes; he has published over 40 articles in reputable academic journals, including eight textbooks which are widely used at universities in Ghana and internationally.
