Brief History

On 25th July and 7th October, 1972 Rev. J.W.K Akuffo the then District Pastor led a delegation of Presbyters from Ramseyer Church in Kumasi to negotiate with Nana Kyirapatrehene and Gyinyasehemaa for a site to build a secondary/vocational school.the presbyter were Messrs. W.Oppong,Opoku Acquah, I.K. Asumaeng and Timothy Aborah.

Accordingly, an area of one hundred and fifty one acres of land was released both land owners. The committee for the institute organized a fund raising at Ramseyer Memorial Church 1st February, 1976, this money was raised to fund the work of then institute.

The institute was officially opened on 1st October, 1976, by the then Moderator of Presbyterian Church ofGhana(Rt. Rev. G. Sintim Misa). In attendance were the Netherlands Ambassador, the Ashanti Regional Commissioner and a representative of Asantehene Otumfuo Opoku Ware 2as well as the District Pastor.

It started as an Agricultural Institution but later on, other Vocational courses such as Catering,FashionDesign, Furniture craft, Block Laying and Concreting and advanced catering were added to it. As part of training program, an attachment program is organized for trainees during holidays to acquaint themselves with the world.

Each year a graduation ceremony is organized for the final year trainees and some basic tools are given to them to enable them to setup their ownbusinesswith ease. It has trained two thousand, seven hundred and fifty young people, who are either wage or self employed. The institute has over the years made tremendous progress.
