UDS Department Of biomedical Science Entry Requirements

  • 4-YearBSc Biomedical Sciences(for SSSCE /WASSCE holders) or3-Year duration(for Diploma holders in Medical Laboratory Technology with two (2) years post internship working experience)

Applicants must haveEITHER

a) Credit in the Three (3) SSSCE/WASSCE core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credit in three electives (Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics)

OR

b) Credit in Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level including Mathematics, English plus Three (3) GCE ‘A’ Level passes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Mathematics, and must have passed an interview

OR

c) Mature candidates with a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or HND in Science Laboratory Technology with at least two (2) year post-qualification experience, and must have passed an interview. Applicants should not be less than 25 years

After completion of the BSc Biomedical programme, the student would undergo one (1) year compulsory rotation internship in a recognized hospital (i.e. three (3) months each in Haematology, Microbiology, Chemical Pathology as well as Histopathology Laboratory)

DOCTOR OF MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE (MLS.D)

Admission / Entry Requirement

Applicants to the6-YearDoctor of Medical Laboratory Science (MLS.D)degree must have either

a) Credit in the THREE WASSCE/SSCE core subjects: English Language, Mathematics and integrated Science plus credits in THREE WASSCE electives: Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics) and must pass an assessment examination and interview

OR

b) Graduates of allied disciplines such as Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology etc. and candidates with GCE ‘A’ level with minimum of credit passes in Biology, Chemistry and Physics in addition to the above 5 “O” level 5 credit passes including Mathematics, English in maximum of 2 sittings, mayenter theProgramme in Year Twoafter passing an assessment examination and interview

OR

c) Holders of Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certificate/diploma and HND in Science Laboratory Technology that have at least 6 WASSCE/SSCE passes as in a) above mayenter theProgramme in Year Twoafter passing an assessment examination and interview.

 

TOP-UP PROGRAMME FOR 2-YEARS (FEE PAYING ONLY)

d) Graduates with Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science or B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Science may enter the Programme in Year 5 (2 years duration) after passing an assessment examination and interview.
