The Ghost of Vance Hotel

The Vance Hotel was the newest, in-date hotel in North Carolina. The tiny town of Statesville was proud of that hotel. People all over North and South Carolina, even Georgia, Tennessee, and the Virginias, came to the opening night of the hotel. There was going to be a big party, complete with dancing, games, and swimming, and at the end of the night there would be a big dinner. Well, this little girl, Emma, was there with her mother, father, 3 year old brother, and grandpa. Eventually she got bored, sitting around, watching people dance, she was only 11. So she got her grandpa to take her exploring around the hotel. Well, near the basement, Emma’s grandpa stopped to look at the paintings in the hall, and told her she could go on ahead to the next room. And in that next room was a large almost olympic-sized pool, 12 feet deep. Being 11, Emma was excited. She knew she couldn’t go swimming, she didn’t have her swim clothes with her, and her big heavy ball gown would sink her, so she took her shoes and socks off and dipped her feet in the water. She caught her reflection in the water, and thought about how pretty she looked tonight, her mother had spent extra time curling her long brown hair, and had even let her wear a little make-up. Leaning closer and closer, she slipped a little and started to fall. She caught herself at the last second, and let out a breath. She was on the very edge, just dangling off the side. All of the sudden, her brother ran in and pushed her. Before she even had time to scream, she was in the water, sinking fast from her heavy dress. She tried to swim, but the dress was too tight and was like a stiff iron suit. She hit the bottom, allready out of breath. She couldn’t move, and the worst thing was, nobody could hear her scream. She couldn’t even scream, at all. She began to see black, and her head was light and dizzy. She began to faint.A couple minutes, grandpa came in, finished looking at all the paintings.”Where’s Emma?” he asked the little boy. The little boy just giggled.”Do you know where the little rascal went?” he said, picking the boy up. The little boy pointed towards the pool.”Where? In the pool? No, she’s not in there, silly boy.” grandpa said. “Emma? Where are you?” he called. “Emma?”The little boy giggled and pointed towards the pool again. Grandpa was beginning to get scared. He looked at the little boy, and then towards the pool. He noticed tiny ripples breaking the surface. He slowly walked towards the pool. He got to the edge, and peered over. There was a dark shape in the bottom, swaying slightly in the current. In a second, he realized it was Emma, she was at the bottom of the pool, and she was not very good at swimming. He immediately jumped in, and swam to the bottom. He grabbed the shape, and pulled it to the surface, up to the edge of the pool. It was Emma. Her eyes were closed, and she didn’t appear to be breathing. He began to try to pump the water out of her chest. It wasn’t working, nothing happening…Now, the Hotel is shut down, dangerous mishaps, defected construction, and frequent sightings of a little ghost girl, running around near the top floor, never around the pool, and always disappearing whenever water was nearby. According to the people who have seen her, She comes to the elderly, introduces herself as Emma, and asks them to take her to the pool. They do, and then when they open the door to the old pool room, now just an empty twelve foot deep hole in the ground, she vanishes.*********This story has been taken from police files, from the grandfathers view, and later on, the brother’s view. There are many different rumors, such as when the grandfather jumped in, both his legs got torn off, and one where the pool was empty, and her brother pushed her in, causing her to fall and break her neck, and one where she committed suicide, but this one is said to be the most reliable. I can say this is from a reliable source because I live in Statesville, and yes, the Vance is very creepy. There’s a whole abandoned storefront beside it, creepy stuff. I was walking by the other day, and looked in a room, and got the scare of the life because there was a hawk writhing around in there. I wanted to call animal control, because it looked like it was really hurt, plus it was trapped in an abandoned building, but the next day, it was nowhere to be seen. I felt really bad about that. And right next to the abandoned storefront, there’s an old run-down building that caught on fire in the 60’s, covered in graffiti. It’s actually pretty cool, tons of people take photo-shoots there. But if your walking by at night, there there’s a graffiti painting of a man, completely painted out of white paint, and he’s really tall, thus making him look like Slenderman. Scary stuff in Statesville, so many haunted places. More than 50, actually. Probably even more than 100. Maybe. But yeah, that’s the story of Emma, the 11 year old ghost girl. Look up the Vance, and Statesville, you’ll probably see the burnt building and the storefront.
