Basic Profile

Stylz Dance Studio in Covina, CA, aims to bring Hollywood-quality hip-hop training to Los Angeles’ San Gabriel Valley. Director Marlon Shell offers a warm studio community where he knows all the dancers by name. Most people who come here start from scratch, he says, with their dance skills. Novices can come to Stylz for recreation and fitness, or if they have aspirations in dance, they can get the attention and training to bring them to the level to move on to the top dance industry studios in Hollywood and North Hollywood.

The studio is a single high-ceilinged, open-design space with mirrors on the front wall, facing the dance floor, and a front desk and seating area at the back. Prospective students can drop by, meet Marlon and his staff, and observe a class. Marlon wants Stylz to be a friendly, accessible studio, and offers great special rates for college students and young people.

In addition to offering about a dozen regular hip-hop classes each week, Stylz frequently hosts master classes so the studios’ dancers can gain experience with an even wider array of great instructors.

Stylz is on the second floor, and the door at the back of the studio, facing the parking lot, may be easier to locate than the front door facing Citrus Ave. As of our last check, both the lot behind Stylz and street parking on Citrus Ave offer unlimited free parking after 6 pm. (However, always check signs.)
