Coyote Hunter Tournament Dates

CoyoteHunter.net’s 2013-2014 Tournament Dates Finalized with Three Exciting Events.

In 12 short years, CoyoteHunter.net’s annual tournament series has gained legendary status among the predator hunting community. The 2013 -2014 series dates are set and participants are already submitting entries. This year’s CoyoteHunter.net annual tournament series includes the following events:

Luke Oyloe Memorial Coyote Hunt – October 26th, Williston, ND

Luke Allen Oyloe was tragically killed in 2009 at just 16 years of age. The Luke Oyloe Memorial Coyote Hunt was established to provide an educational scholarship in Oyloe’s name. The event is a one-day contest with a registration fee of $100 per team. A rules meeting and Calcutta Auction will take place at 7:00 p.m. October 25 at the Edgar M. Boyd American Legion Post located at 115 1st Avenue East in Williston. The afternoon check-in will be at 7:00 p.m. October 26 at the same location. Payback will be as follows to the teams with the highest one-day total: 1st 30%, 2nd 25%, 3rd 20%, 4th 15%, and 5th 10%. Additional prizes, likely to include guns and gas cards as in previous years, will also be up for grabs. Last year, for example, more than 10 DPMS Panther Arms AR15s were given away. Cash will be awarded for the largest and smallest coyotes. After the tournament concludes, a scholarship (dollar amount varies from year-to-year based on participation in the tournament) will be awarded. Entrants must be in their senior year at Trinity Christian School in Williston, ND and submit a 1000-word essay on coyote hunting; a five-member panel of judges will select a winner from all entries received. To raise money for the scholarship, the Calcutta Auction will be held on Friday October 25 to auction the teams off to the highest bidder. Participation in the auction is open to all interested parties regardless of whether or not they register to participate in the hunt.

2013 Winter Classic – December 5 – 7, Mandan, ND

The Winter Classic is a two-day contest with a registration fee of $300 per team. The staging area for the event will be the Seven Seas Hotel located at 2611 Old Red Trail in Mandan, ND. A block of rooms at the hotel has been set aside at a special group rate. There will be a rules meeting at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5 at the hotel. The call-in check-in will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6; the contact phone number for this check-in will be given out at the rules meeting. On Saturday there will be a check- in at 7:00 p.m. at the hotel. Payback will be as follows to the teams with the highest two-day total: 1st 30%, 2nd 25%, 3rd 20%, 4th 15%, 5th 10%. Cash, plaques and prizes will be awarded to winning teams. Cash will be awarded for the largest and smallest coyotes (100% pay back) and will be paid out each night.

12NDCC – January 9 – 11, 2014, Dickinson, ND

The 12NDCC is a two-day contest with a registration fee of $300 per team. Registrations are processed on a first come-first served basis with a maximum of 50 teams allowed. Home base for the event will be at the Dickinson, North Dakota Quality Inn located at 71 Museum Drive in Dickinson, ND. A block of rooms at the hotel has been set aside at a special group rate. Rules review and a Calcutta Auction will be held at the hotel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9th. Teams will be auctioned off to the highest bidder with a 90% payback to the top three teams. A call-in check-in is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday, January10th; the contact phone number for this check-in will be given out at the rules meeting. The tournament’s final check-in will be at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11 at the Quality Inn. Cash, plaques and prizes will be awarded to the teams with the highest two-day total. Payback will be as follows: 1st 25%, 2nd 20%, 3rd 15%, 4th 12%, 5th 8%, 6th 6%, 7th 5%, 8th 4%, 9th 3% & 10th 2%. In addition, cash will be awarded for the largest and smallest coyotes (100% payback) and will be paid out each night. More than $20,000 in cash and prizes were paid out last year, and this year’s purse is expected to be at least as rich.
