I am hesitant. My child is not sleeping well. She will be 6 in December and has been having sleep problems sine i lost my husband a year ago. The doctors have given her some drugs but i don’t like the idea of drugging my child senseless. Is there an alternative out there? Her not sleeping is taking it’s toll on her health. She is declining. Please help me.
Answer.
I am sorry about this situation. But i believe that you can work it out. First of all, you are right about not spilling out drugs to your kid. You mentioned that she began to have this problem with the demise of your husband. It could be that this is the cause of the problem. The solution would be to focus on the underlying problem. You need to take her to a child physiologist. There are some of them that specialize in children issues. But in the meantime the only safe option i could suggest ismelatonin supplementsfor kids. Melatonin has been used on kids with sleep issues with little or no side effects. Since it is a supplement and not a drug, there is no standard dosage. You could also tryliquid melatoninin case she does not like swallowing pills
This is just my recommendation and you should seek a doctors/nutritionist advice before administering anything to your daughter. I have written a lot on melatonin and children sleep problems.
