Solderas, also known as coronelas, and adelitas were brave Mexican female soldiers that were loyal to the causeMexican Revolution. They fought side by side with their male comrades and contributed greatly in the battlefields of the Mexican revolution.
Many of them gave their lives for the better Mexico and dream about the social equality and justice.
A side from fighting, these brave women had many other responsibilities such as: caring for the wounded, washing clothes, cooking for the army, burying the dead, etc.
These courageous Mexican women were also spies, messengers, secretaries, journalists, munitions runners, and everything else they were asked to be. In other words they were the logistics of the revolutionary army and its reserves as well.
After the Mexican revolution the Solderas deeds were forgotten, and they never got the proper recognition for being the inseparable and very important part of the Mexican revolution.
In fact the only recognition these great women got was in form of the folk song that referred to the girl, Adelita that was in love with one sergeant and because of that followed him, and the troops. This romantic portrait of the soldera Adelita became a legend and eventually the term Adelitas epitomized all Mexican female soldiers.
However, important thing to know is that these brave Mexican women really existed and were the mothers of the Mexican revolution and true heroines.
