Although many people do not like the idea of crate training, most dogs look on their crate as a cozy place which provides privacy, comfort and security. Crate training can be extremely useful for a lot of reasons.
It helps with barking and crying at night because the crate can be placed in your bedroom, while at the same time preventing investigative activity, which causes boredom…….chewing and destructive behavior.
A crate trained dog will usually travel more calmly and will not need to be tranquilized. They are also happier when boarded, especially if you take something with a blanket that you and they have snuggled with.
The only disadvantage of crate training is that it should not be used if the pup is isolated for long periods. The puppy should never be left in the cage for more than 4 hours during the day (longer as he gets older), although it is tine to leave him in it all night.
