Training your puppy is a lot of work, but it is one of the best things you can do – for both of you. Training your pup helps reinforce your position as leader as well as build that very special bond with your newest family member. The goal is to raise a dog that grows up to be a contributing member of the family – one that behaves not because it was forced to, but because it wants to. Many people think “training the dog” consists of “conveying” a list of commands through hitting, yanking, and scolding.We only want to use positive reinforcement with remote punishment for preventing or solving a vast range of problems!

Does this mean that your pup will never disobey? No! But the occurrences will hopefully be less often and easier to repair. That is why you train your pup. Sometimes owners are surprised when their wonderfully behaved pup goes into a “relapse” or enters a period of “juvenile delinquency.” One common complaint is “Tipp doesn’t come when called anymore.” Congratulations! Don’t stop your training sessions when your pup gets it right. Just keep adding commands and things to teach. You can get creative. Can a dog turn on or off a light? Can your dog sense things before it happens? What tricks can your pup do? Your choices are limitless……………
