List Of Best Restaurants In Portland Oregon By Type

Here is my short list of best restaurants in Portland, Oregon sorted by type of food, type of restaurant or type of meal.  Why should you take my advice on where to eat? I am often a top Zomato foodie in the Portland area.  I have eaten at over 700 restaurants in the Portland Oregon area.  I read Eater and local “Best of” newspaper lists avidly. My mother was a professional chef and my grandfather was a huge foodie like myself. I know the names of many of the celebrity chefs in town but I also try the restaurants that do well in user ratings on the web, like Yelp and Google. I often am the first to add a restaurant to the list on Zomato.  Trying new restaurants is one of my main hobbies.

Disclaimer: I haven’t been to every restaurant in town and there are restaurants opening and closing all the time.

portland oregon has a great list of restaurants

Portland Oregon scenery is beautiful but it’s restaurants are even more beautiful

This list of best Portland restaurants is good for locals and visitors alike.  Restaurants labeled “view” are particularly good for out of town visitors to the Pacific NW.  These are restaurants I would recommend to my friends if they asked, which they often do.

The list is broken down by type of food served in the restaurant or type of restaurant.  In the list I added a Style column to help select from a variety of choices.  The “fancy” ones are usually more expensive and require a little nicer dress to make you feel like you fit in, although in Portland everything is pretty casual no matter where you go.  I also added a Notes column to talk about anything that really stands out to me about the restaurant.

You can make advanced reservations for many of these restaurants on Opentable.com.

If you think I missed a good restaurant, please include your favorite in the comments.

This is just like my opinion man…

Where to go if you have only one day to eat in Portland

The biggest confluence of good restaurants is in the area of NE Burnside and NE 28th Ave.  If you are staying downtown and have a very limited amount of time, the best place to go to get a feel of Portland foodie culture is Pine Street Market.
