SEOUL. North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN for the first time in 22 days appeared in public amid the outbreak of coronavirus, said state media on Saturday to visit the national mausoleum to mark the anniversary of the birth of late leader Kim Jong Il.

Kim Jong UN paid tribute to the former leader Kim at the Kumsusan Palace of the sun in Pyongyang. This is his first public appearance after he attended the lunar New year celebration January 25, according to the state news Agency Korean Central news Agency (KCNA).

North Korea has not confirmed a single case of a novel coronavirus, but state media said that the government extends a 30-day quarantine period for people with symptoms, and all state institutions and foreigners residing in the country, had to comply with unconditionally.

The birthday of the late leader Kim, February 16 is a national holiday celebrated as the day of the Shining Star.

The mausoleum of Kim was accompanied by senior party officials, including Cho Hae Ryong, President of the Presidium of the Supreme people’s Assembly, and Pak Pong Ju, Vice-Chairman of the Commission on Affairs of state.
